The Head of State Gave Reception on the Occasion of May 24th
For second time the President of Republic of Bulgaria and his wife gave reception on the occasion of the Day of Bulgarian Education, Culture and Slavonic Alphabet.
It took place on May 24, 2018 in the National History Museum – Boyana. Mr. Christo Kourteff, president of the Union Club and Mrs. Maria Konaktchieva from the French Institute had received personal invitation. Among the guests were all diplomatic representatives and many teachers, lecturers and artists.
After the performance of the national anthem, in his speech, the President of the Republic of Bulgaria emphasized the importance of education, culture and Slavonic alphabet.
The Bulgarian alphabet, called Cyrillic, was created in IX century in the monastery the Great Basilica of Pliska by st. Cyril and Methodius: Kliment, Naum, Gorazd, Sava and Angelariy. Later, probably in XVI century it was called Slavonic alphabet. Today it is used by more than 250 million people in Bulgaria, Russia, Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia and others.
